A little clarity
Good questions.
Thoughtful answers.
From your first enquiry to ongoing spectacle support, here are some useful things to know.
Can I have an eye test at home?
AU Eyecare brings eye examinations to people in their own homes and supported-care settings. Contact the team to discuss your circumstances, whether a home visit is appropriate and availability in your area.
Will my eye test or glasses be NHS funded?
NHS support may be available depending on eligibility and the circumstances of a home visit. A spectacle voucher may contribute towards glasses for eligible people. The team will confirm eligibility and any costs before you decide; free tests or glasses are not guaranteed.
What happens during a visit?
The optometrist discusses your vision and needs, examines your eyes using portable equipment and explains the findings and next steps. You can discuss glasses, practical support and any follow-up that may be needed.
Can a family member or carer be there?
You can ask a family member or carer to support you during the visit. Let the team know about communication or accessibility needs when arranging the appointment, so these can be considered in advance.
Do you look after care homes?
Yes. AU Eyecare supports care homes with planned resident examinations, eyecare reports, vision support guidance, spectacles and repairs, follow-up coordination and staff eye awareness.
Can you help with broken or poorly fitting glasses?
Contact the team to discuss an adjustment, repair or replacement. They will advise on the practical options, arrangements and any costs; please do not include clinical information in a website enquiry.
Where do you offer visits?
Please contact AU Eyecare with your town or postcode so the team can confirm local coverage and appointment availability. A visit is not confirmed until arrangements have been agreed.
